“Our long-standing commitment to cycling is one of the cornerstones of our sponsorship activities in grassroots and elite international sports. In the early days of our company, our founders Václav Laurin and Václav Klement started by designing and manufacturing bicycles – this makes for an ideal ‘brand fit’. We are delighted to support this great event again this year.”

Martin Jahn, Member of the Board of Management for Sales and Marketing of Škoda Auto

The 109th stage of cycling’s classic race begins on July 1 with the Grand Départ in Copenhagen, Denmark, the northernmost start in the race’s history. The 21 stages, including six mountain stages, will take the riders through four countries over 3,300 kilometers. On July 24, the riders will reach the finish line on the Champs‑Élysées in Paris.

ŠKODA AUTO is supporting the world's largest cycling event for the 19th time. As official vehicle partner, it is also providing 250 vehicles for the race organisers and management, as well as service and support vehicles. Along with the Enyaq iV, the fleet includes an Octavia and a Škoda Superb iV plug‑in hybrid.

As the leading vehicle, Tour director Christian Prudhomme will travel in the fully electric Škoda Enyaq iV and will signal stage starts from the car’s sunroof. This is the third time the SUV has acted as Prudhomme’s mobile command centre. On some stages, the Škoda Superb iV with plug‑in hybrid drive will join the race as a command vehicle.

Furthermore, Škoda Auto is a partner of the Tour de France Femmes, starting on 24 July. That race includes eight stages over 1,029 km from Paris to La Planche des Belles Filles.

ŠKODA campaign “You have to love it, we do”

To mark the Tour de France, Škoda is launching the “You have to love it, we do” campaign and is promoting it via TV advertising, social media channels and on the company website, where cycling fans can find stories and information about the Tour as well as a competition. Prizes include tickets to the Tour de France, signed green jerseys, bicycles, cycling equipment and fitness app subscriptions. App users can also join cycling challenges and win a personalised green jersey.

This is the 12th time the Czech carmaker has designed the crystal trophy for the winner of the world’s biggest cycling race. Škoda Auto has sponsored the green jersey for the race leader since 2015.

Strong involvement in cycling sponsorship

As the “engine of cycling”, Škoda Auto supports the Tour de France as well as many national and international races and mass participation events. Alongside the Vuelta in Spain, this includes the amateur event L’Etape. Under the patronage of the Tour de France, a global series of events allows ambitious amateur cyclists to ride stages of the race.

Commitment to sustainability

In cooperation with its partners, Škoda Auto continues to pursue sustainable innovation. For example, at the Tour de France the manufacturer will use Continental tyres for the Enyaq iV team that contain additives made from recycled materials. Vehicle body materials include recycled PET bottles. Beyond safety, these innovations aim to ensure special handling characteristics with minimal environmental impact. Tyres for Škoda models are developed to customer specifications. Working closely with partners, the manufacturer aims to bring tyres made from sustainable materials into mass production in the future.
